2027 Color of the Year: Every Brand's Pick and Its Closest Match

Every 2027 Color of the Year announced so far

Codes follow each brand's own numbering. LRV (light reflectance value) runs from 0 for black to 100 for white and tells you how much light a color bounces back, which matters more than the name when you compare brands. HEX values are on-screen approximations of the paint, not mixing formulas. Behr has not published an official HEX for Grounded, so the value shown is our approximation, and Dulux has not published a HEX or code for Soulful Sage.

The closest match to each pick in other brands

These are the closest matches to each pick in other brands' catalogs, based on the published colors of Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, Behr, Valspar, PPG and Farrow & Ball; always compare a physical sample.

Near-identical means the chips are hard to tell apart, very close means a difference shows only with the chips side by side, and close means a similar color that is worth sampling but will read a little different on the wall. Behr has not published a HEX for Grounded, so treat its matches as a shortlist and compare the chips in the store.

Brand by brand: what to check before you buy

Sherwin-Williams Celery

Celery is a joint pick of Sherwin-Williams and HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams, so the same SW 6421 is sold in both lines. With an LRV of 71 it reflects most of the light that reaches it and reads as a pale, slightly yellow green rather than a pastel. Behr Caraway Seeds (S330-2) is a very close match, two LRV points lighter, and Benjamin Moore Pistachio Ice Cream (CSP-815) is the nearest Benjamin Moore color.

Behr Grounded

Grounded is a new number for 2027 and Behr has not published its HEX, so shop by the code, T27-01. Our Behr library also lists an older, unrelated color with the same name, Grounded 240D-5, which is a terracotta. At a reported LRV of about 11 the new Grounded absorbs most of the light in a room, and its nearest catalog matches, PPG Moss Rock, Sherwin-Williams Hidden Trail and Benjamin Moore Mohegan Sage, all sit at LRV 10 or 11.

Valspar Cottage Door

Our Valspar library lists Cottage Door under two codes, 8004-38E and V138-4, with the same HEX, so search by name if one code is not on your store's fan deck. Behr Silent Tide (PMD-55) is a very close match, and Farrow & Ball Selvedge (No. 306) is almost as close, with the same LRV.

Glidden / PPG Artifact

Glidden sells PPG's color system, which is why Artifact carries a PPG code. It is a deeper, smokier relative of Cottage Door: the two share a blue-grey undertone, but Artifact is clearly darker, at LRV 20 against 26, so they are not interchangeable. Behr Windy Seas (ECC-31-1) is a very close match, and Valspar Midnight Fog is nearly as close.

Dutch Boy Deep Rooted

Dutch Boy is part of Sherwin-Williams, and in our catalog Deep Rooted has exactly the same HEX as Sherwin-Williams Copper Mountain (SW 6356). Behr also sells a color named Copper Mountain (260D-7), which is close but slightly more orange. A shared HEX is not proof of the same formula, but it makes SW 6356 the first chip to pull if your store does not stock Dutch Boy.

Dulux Soulful Sage

Dulux describes Soulful Sage as a soft, silvery green. We have not found a published code or HEX for it, so there are no matches listed yet; they will appear here once the color has a code in the Dulux range.

As of October 6, 2026, Benjamin Moore (expected October 2026) and Pantone (expected early December 2026) have not announced a 2027 color yet. This page adds each pick, with its code and closest matches, once it is published. When a brand announces, we compare its pick against the same catalogs and add its three closest matches to the tables above.
