Identify the Exact Paint Color from Any Wall Photo

Ever walked into a room and wondered exactly which shade of white is on those walls? Paint Color Match & Preview uses AI to scan any surface and return the closest matching paint color across the major brands — in seconds.

How paint color identification works

Open the app and tap the camera icon. Point it at the painted surface you want to identify — a wall, trim, furniture, or any object. The AI analyzes the hue, saturation, and luminosity of the surface under current lighting conditions and cross-references its database of thousands of real paint colors.

Within a second or two you'll see the closest matches from Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, Behr, Valspar, and other major brands, each displayed with its official color name, chip swatch, and color code. You can tap any result to see more details or save it to your color history.

Why photos give better results than paint chips

A physical paint chip looks different in every lighting condition, which is why color matching at the store so often goes wrong. The app analyzes color in the context of your actual room lighting, giving you a match that accounts for ambient light rather than a chip photographed under fluorescent store lights.

You can also photograph the wall at different times of day to see how the color shifts — useful when you want to understand why a painted room looks different in morning versus evening light.

Matching colors from photos you already have

You don't need to be standing in front of the wall. Import any photo from your camera roll and the app will identify the paint colors in it. This is useful when you're trying to replicate a color you saw in a design magazine, on a website, or in a friend's home.

Tap any point in the imported photo and the app samples the color at that pixel cluster, returning the nearest paint brand matches instantly.

Save and share your identified colors

Every color you identify is saved to your history so you can revisit it later. You can export a color list as a PDF, share individual swatches via Messages or email, or copy the hex and RGB codes directly for use in design tools.

This makes it easy to hand off a color specification to a contractor or send your painter the exact brand color name before they order.

Stop Guessing. Start Matching.
